One of my favorite things to do in London (and in general) is to go to nice coffee shops to get an oat flat white and enjoy the atmosphere. London is a place with a generous offering of everything, including coffee spots.
It’s important to note that I live in South East London, and I spend most of my time in Greenwich, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Islington, or Central London. That’s why my list of the best coffee shops in London focuses on these areas.
- British Patagonia – Islington
- Siena – Greenwich
- Sevente – Hoxton
- Intervallo – Depford
- Coffee Studio – Greenwich
- FWT – Shorditch
- Saint Espresso – Angel
- Chiltern Street Deli – Marylebone
- Monocle Café – Marylebone
- Latino – Bermondsey
1. SIENNA – Greenwich
📍 Paynes Wharf, 25 Wharf St, London SE8 3GG
- Google Maps rating: 4.8 ⭐ (130+ reviews)
I’ve been living near Greenwich for over 3 years now but discovered this beautiful coffee shop only recently, as it’s hidden by buildings. The place is located in a vibrant waterside area, and its outdoor space is probably the best place to have coffee during the warmer seasons. However, the indoor space is also beautiful and cozy.
The coffee is great here. I love their smooth oat flat white with gentle foam, and my partner likes their double espresso. Both the look and the taste are great, and the cups look very nice.
The service is always friendly and welcoming. Moreover, you can sit with your laptop there. The place is around 10–15 minutes from Greenwich Market. The only downside is that it doesn’t open on Sundays.
There are also events taking place there, which you can check on their website or inside the coffee shop.

2. Coffee Studio – Greenwich
- Google Maps rating: 4.7 ⭐ (250+ Google reviews)
The next place is also in Greenwich, and it’s my second-favorite coffee shop in the area. Coffee Studio is my go-to place to work during the week, as it has great coffee and is very laptop-friendly. Their coffee has just the right balance for me. The place is quite busy, so you feel like something is always going on. The service is friendly and welcoming.
Coffee Studio is positioned as a place to work, and they don’t charge extra if you sit there for hours with a laptop. What makes it great for working is the very comfortable tables and chairs, as well as the nice interior. However, it’s quite busy, and you can’t always get a proper place to work. Moreover, it can be quite noisy.
They also have great pastries—Danish, cinnamon buns, pistachio croissants, and others. A small thing I also like is their great choice of music.
The biggest downside: they don’t have proper cups—only plastic ones—and they don’t seem to plan to change this.
3. Intervallo – Deptford
📍 205 Deptford High St, London SE8 3NT
- Google Maps rating: 5.0 ⭐ (100+ reviews)
Staying near Greenwich, Intervallo is a new neighborhood gem on Deptford High Street. The place has exceptional coffee and a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere.
My favorite thing about Intervallo is the coffee itself. Both my partner and I find it probably the best in London—it has a very rich, balanced, and unique taste.
Another great thing about this place is the friendly, attentive team and the generally laid-back vibe.
Even though I wouldn’t recommend this area as a place to visit, Intervallo’s coffee is worth coming here for. Moreover, there aren’t many great coffee places in the neighborhood, and this one is definitely a great gift for the community.

4. British Patagonia – Islington
- Google Maps rating: 4.6 ⭐ (780+ reviews)
Islington is one of my favorite areas in London, and we come here with my partner almost every weekend. Here, we have our favorite place (and probably my absolute favorite in London)—British Patagonia.
It combines all the best aspects—coffee, location, and atmosphere. The coffee here is great, somewhat similar to Intervallo. It’s perfect for me—taste, foam, and a rich flavor.
Another great thing about this place is the location and interior. It’s located on Upper Street, just across the road from a beautiful Town Hall, where you can sometimes see people getting married. The street itself is also very nice. The place is beautiful and cozy inside—I really like the interior.
The team is friendly and welcoming.
Finally, they have a big choice of pastries, and you can even have proper food now (like a Sunday roast).

5. Saint Espresso – Angel
📍 26 Pentonville Rd, London N1 9HJ
- Google Maps rating: 4.4 ⭐ (450+ reviews)
Another coffee place located in this area is Saint Espresso, very close to Angel tube station.
The coffee here is intense and rich, while the place itself has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
There are seats both inside and outside, and both options are great depending on the weather.
6. Sevente – Hoxton
- Google Maps rating: 4.8 ⭐ (140+ reviews)
This coffee shop in Hoxton has a great vibe and good coffee. The best thing for me is the interior, which is very modern, cozy, and inspiring. The place has many different paintings, pink lighting, and other decor. You can choose to sit at a table or on a sofa.
The coffee is gentle with a balanced taste. There are very friendly baristas, and many people come here to meet friends, sit with their laptops, or read a book.
After having coffee here, you can stroll to Shoreditch or around Hoxton. On Sundays, you can visit the Columbia Road Flower Market, as it’s only 10 minutes away.

7. FWD:Coffee – Shoreditch
📍 126 Curtain Rd, London EC2A 3PJ
Google Maps rating: 4.3 ⭐ (600+ reviews)
This cozy but busy specialty coffee shop in Shoreditch has built a loyal following thanks to its seasonal single-origin espressos. The coffee is smooth with nice foam.
The place is laptop-friendly, and many people come here to work. It has a cozy but energetic interior and is great for reading or working.
A nice benefit is that it’s probably the cheapest coffee place on the list, even though it’s located in quite an expensive area.

8. Chiltern Street Deli – Marylebone
📍 27 Chiltern St, London W1U 7PJ
- Google Maps rating: 4.5 ⭐ (176+ reviews)
This is a very spacious place in Marylebone with a nice, flat-style interior, different rooms, and a hall where you can sit. There are both tables and sofas. The vibe is very cozy—you can meet someone there or work with your laptop.
The coffee is balanced and soft. There are also very nice sandwiches.
The place is usually less busy than Monocle, which is across the road. You can easily find a seat on weekends.

9. Monocle Café – Marylebone
📍 18 Chiltern St, London W1U 7QA
- Google Maps rating: 4.4⭐ (2100+ reviews)
The Monocle Café is located in busy and beautiful Marylebone and is quite a popular place. It has a minimalist, stylish interior and good specialty coffee.
The service is polite and professional. There’s also a variety of pastries.
As it’s very popular, it can be hard to get a table on weekends.
10. Caffè Latino – Bermondsey
📍 44 Tower Bridge Rd, London SE1 4TR
- Google Maps rating: 4.7⭐ (210+ reviews)
This Italian-inspired coffee spot is located quite close to Tower Bridge. It’s very authentic and welcoming, with friendly service.
The coffee has a rich taste, and there’s also a choice of delicious pastries. My favorite spot is near the window, where you can people-watch.
However, if you want to work there, there are limitations on how long you can use your laptop.
