About us

Hi, I’m Ana! And this is My Balanced Space, the home my husband Mike and I share with you.

I’m Ana, and if I had to sum up this site in one word, it would be balance — the kind I’m constantly chasing in both my daily life and my actual physical space. I’m based in London but originally from Portugal.

I work a full-time, fully remote 9-to-5 in marketing. Working from home sounds idyllic until you realise your office, your dining room, and your place to switch off are all the same four walls. My Balanced Space grew out of figuring out how to make that work without losing my mind — and I wanted somewhere to share the things that genuinely helped along the way.

Most of what I write about comes from the parts of home life I care about most: yoga, home decor, scents and other things that make your space a better version of it and a better place for you. A couple of years ago, I stumbled into yoga as a complete beginner, and it quietly became one of my favourite parts of the week. I’m not an instructor and I won’t pretend to be one; I write through the lens of someone still learning, testing things in real life first and only sharing what’s earned a permanent place in my own days.

One part of the site I’m especially proud of is the free tools I design myself. These are tools and quizes for well-being and better understanding your life, your state, and your needs — like Work-Life Balance Test or Journal Prompt Generator (yes, I find journaling very helpful).

I also write about London and my favourite places here. I walk a lot, try different coffee shops, and love sharing my discoveries with you. I also have some great yoga studios to recommend, as well as a few places to work outside the house (because I can’t work from home every day).

The other half of My Balanced Space is my husband, Mike. He’s originally from Boston, works in consulting, and travels a lot for work — which is part of why sleep became his obsession. Sleep is his number one priority, and he writes about mattresses and everything connected to resting well: bedding, sleep environment, routines, and the gear that actually helps after a long week of hotels and red-eye flights. What sets his writing apart is how he gets there — he genuinely loves digging into scientific papers and research, then pairing what the studies say with what he’s personally tested at home. For all the time he spends travelling, what he values most is being home with me, and a lot of his writing is really about protecting good rest and making home the place you most want to be.

One thing we both want to be upfront about: neither of us is a doctor, a nutritionist, or a certified health or fitness professional. Anything we share about yoga, movement, sleep, or general wellbeing comes purely from our own experience and research and is meant as a starting point rather than personal advice. Mike’s sleep write-ups draw on published research alongside products we’ve personally used and lived with, and we’ll always tell you when something didn’t work for us too. If you have any health concerns, please check with a qualified professional rather than relying only on what you read here.

We also want to be transparent about how the site is supported: some of the links on My Balanced Space are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This never affects what we recommend or what we honestly think of a product; we only ever point you towards things we’ve actually used and rate. You can read the full details in our terms and conditions. Thanks for taking the time to get to know us a little — and whether it’s a yoga tip, a scent recommendation, one of my free tools, or Mike’s honest take on a mattress, it’s all here because it earned its place in our home first.
